Blue Pearl is an ornamental dwarf Neocaridina. Its scientific name usually adopts Neocaridina denticulata var., because it is said that its original species is the common Neocaridina (Neocaridina denticulata). Its classification still exists some controversy. The current species in the market might be the result of multiple crossbreed. It may need molecular techniques to analyze, but it is not easy to proceed without shrimp-sample counterparts. The colors of this species range from transparent blue to sapphire blue, and many of them are special variants. Those common species in the market such as Jelly Blue Velvet, Dream Blue Velvet, and Blue Glass are selected from the variants of Blue Velvet Shrimp and bred with purification.
